South Carolina game

Seattlekat, Oct 2, 2007

Thursday nights game with South Carolina is probably the most important football game UK has played in my lifetime.

I am 58 so alot of seasons have come and gone.

This years U of L game was an "arrival game."  The arrival of Coach Brooks and this years team into a "team to watch" in the world of  college football.  The Arkansas game was proof that UK has "arrived."  The Florida Atlantic game was just "topping" on this "arrival."  Proof that UK has "arrived" .......the lofty #8 ranking that the Cats attained in the most recent AP Poll.

If UK is to prove to the college football world that "they are for real" they must have a "statement game"........the South Carolina game is just such a game.

The Gamecocks are a team that has beaten UK 7 straight games.  UK has never tasted victory over a team coached by Steve Spurrier. The game on Thursday night is in "their House."  And, South Carolina is ranked in the Top 25. All the ingredients are in place for UK to let college football and the SEC know......that these Cats are for real.

This is the "statement" game that UK football and The Big Blue Nation has been waiting several decades for.........the stage is set.........all the Cats have to do is win the game.

Win at Columbia on Thursday and UK has "instant credibility" with the National sports news media.  Win at Columbia on Thursday and UK  "proves" that they are a Top 10 team.  Win at Columbia on Thursday and UK makes a "statement" in the SEC.......they are in the "race" and in the "hunt" for the SEC Title.  Win at Columbia on Thursday and UK makes the "statement"..............we have arrived as a football team, don't take us lightly, and above all............"Fear the Cats."

How does "this ole Kat" see the game?  I see a UK victory.

UK has come too far in the last couple of years to let this game slip away.

GO BIG BLUE!!
