For WHAT SHALL IT PROFIT a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
Mark 8:36
What a statement! We live in a world that we see things all around us. We see car's, boats, mansions, luxy items
all around us, but does man really want the joy's of this world, for only a few short years ? It seems in many times and ways
that is indeed the case.
Man's fleshly and carnal desires of an earthly body seem to many times over ride the spiritual side of a man, and the eternal
promises. If all men and women could, would only grasp what lie's ahead eternally, instead of just looking at the
short lived, quick pleasures of an earthly world.
For man to do this, we have to start looking through what I call, the "Spiritual Eye", instead of an earthly eye. If we
will only open those "Spiritual Eye's" and look ahead in time, ahead into a place called Heaven, we could see the splender
of what lie's ahead for all those who accept Christ as their Savior.
Such as the scripture found in, (Rev. 21:4..... And God shall wipe away all tears from their
eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things
are passed away.)
To think of how many times I have lost someone close to my heart through the years breaks my heart. My grandmother, an
uncle, an aunt,a friend,a schoolmate, and many more, family and friend alike. But to think one day, those fears of losing someone
will be no more. Their will be no dying...sorrow,pain....Praise God,all that will be no more !!
And if that's not enough, what an absolutely Beautiful home awaits those that are saved by Christ hand.
(Rev:21:18).... And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto
clear glass. v.19..And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious
stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald; v.20..The
fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolyte; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus;
the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst. v.21.. And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every
several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass. v.22..
And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. v.23..And
the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten
it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. v.24..And the nations of them which are saved shall walk
in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. v.25.. And the gates
of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. v.26..And they shall bring
the glory and honour of the nations into it. v.27.. And there shall in no wise enter into it
any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's
book of life.
(No more murders, no rapist, no thieves, no child molesters....Praise Almighty God !!!)
I know it's hard to see the heavens and all that await in eternity at times, and I know the fight against the carnal
earthly flesh desires of this world is difficult. But we should, and we must, and the way to help do that,
and ease our earthly journey is to look ahead with the "spiritual eye" and see all the joy's and splendor that await
for those that love the Lord, and have accepted him.
(Rom. 10:9,10 ... That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine
heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and
with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Our hope must be eternal, and not but for a season of earthly treasures that will soon pass away.(Matt 6:19...
LAY NOT UP for yourselves treasures upon
earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
Thinking in term's of eternity , Who in their right mind would exchange earthly pleasures that only last but for a short
time, for one's own soul ? An eternity in hell, for a million dollars ? All the wine, woman, and sex one can have, all for
an everlasting flame that torments night and day for ever ? Yet so many times, people do indeed choose these earthly pleasures, and
others over their own eternal security, and ultimately, their own soul.
My God,will makind ever open their eyes to the eternal possibilities of where their soul will spend eternity ? And the
question......
"For WHAT SHALL IT PROFIT a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? "
